About Basel
Basel is the southernmost terminus of every Rhine itinerary — the river above here is non-navigable for cruise vessels — and is the second-most-common embarkation port after Amsterdam. The Münster cathedral, the Marktplatz with its scarlet town hall, and the Kunstmuseum's Holbein collection are all within a short walk of the riverside cruise berths. The Three-Country corner where Switzerland, France and Germany meet is a few kilometres downriver and is itself a popular pre-cruise visit.
