About Vienne
Vienne is the small Roman town immediately south of Lyon on the Rhône, with a remarkably intact first-century Temple of Augustus and Livia in the centre of the modern grid and a Roman theatre carved into the hillside above. The town hosts the Jazz à Vienne festival each July, when the Roman theatre serves as the open-air stage. Most cruise calls combine a guided walk through the Roman remains with a tasting of Côte-Rôtie or Condrieu from the steep terraces opposite the town.
