About Würzburg
Würzburg is the northern end of the Romantic Road and is dominated by the baroque Residenz of the prince-bishops, whose ceiling fresco by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo above the great staircase is the largest in the world. The Marienberg fortress on the opposite bank, the Alte Mainbrücke with its statues of saints, and the Franconian wine cellars of the Bürgerspital and Juliusspital are the supporting attractions. Most cruise calls include a tasting of dry Franconian Silvaner from the local Bocksbeutel bottle.
