About Oak Alley
Oak Alley Plantation sits on the Mississippi between New Orleans and Baton Rouge and is named for the quarter-mile double row of twenty-eight live oaks, planted in the early eighteenth century, that frame the approach to the 1839 Greek Revival mansion. The plantation's exhibit on the lives of the enslaved people who built and worked it is among the most thoughtful in the region. Cruise vessels tender passengers ashore directly at the plantation landing, removing the need for a coach transfer.
