About Tan Chau
Tan Chau is the last Vietnamese town on the upper Mekong before the Cambodian border, known for its hand-loomed black silk and for its colourful working markets. Most cruise itineraries pair a small-boat ride to the silk workshops with a rickshaw tour through the town and a lunch stop at a stilt-house on one of the river islands. The border crossing into Cambodia is processed mid-river the following morning, with passport-control officials boarding the ship for the formalities.
