About Kom Ombo

Kom Ombo is unusual among Egyptian temples in being a double sanctuary, dedicated equally to the crocodile-god Sobek and the falcon-god Horus the Elder — the temple is mirrored along its central axis with twin entrances, twin hypostyle halls and twin sanctuaries. The adjoining Crocodile Museum displays mummified crocodiles excavated from the sacred pool. Most cruise vessels moor directly below the temple, allowing passengers to walk up to the pylon at sunset, when the warm light is at its best for photography.
