About Bratislava Castle Hill
The cubic four-towered castle on the bluff above Bratislava is the most recognisable silhouette on the middle Danube, dating from the ninth century with successive Roman, Magyar, Habsburg and Slovak rebuildings. The current white-stuccoed appearance is a 1950s restoration. The castle houses the Slovak National Museum and gives the panoramic view across to the Petržalka housing district and downstream toward the Austrian border.
